INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE

1. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY (for TMC Made)

NOTICE:

Before installing the transmission control cable assembly, check that the park/neutral position switch assembly and the shift lever are in neutral.

(a) Pass the transmission control cable assembly from the cabin to the engine compartment.

(b) Install the transmission control cable assembly with the 3 bolts.

Torque:

5.0 N·m {51 kgf·cm, 44 in·lbf}

(c) Return the floor carpet to its original position.

(d) Engage the 2 clamps.

(e) Install a new clip to the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.

(f) Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.

NOTICE:

  • Make sure that the claws (A) of the clip are securely engaged in the grooves of the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.
  • Make sure that the transmission control cable assembly is securely installed inside of the claws (B) of the clip.

(g) Turn the control shaft lever clockwise until it stops, then turn it counterclockwise 2 notches.

(h) Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the transmission control shaft lever with the nut.

Torque:

12 N·m {122 kgf·cm, 9 ft·lbf}

NOTICE:

Before connecting the transmission control cable assembly, check that the shift lever is in neutral.

(i) Slide the slider of the transmission control cable assembly and pull the lock piece outward as shown in the illustration.

(j) Engage the 2 claws to connect the transmission control cable assembly to the transmission floor shift assembly.

NOTICE:

Make sure that the transmission control cable assembly is securely connected.

(k) Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the transmission floor shift assembly.

NOTICE:

  • Check that the lock piece is pulled out.
  • Push the end of the transmission control cable assembly all the way to the base of the transmission floor shift assembly pin.
  • Connect the transmission control cable assembly so that the lock piece faces the driver side.

(l) Push the lock piece into the adjuster case.

NOTICE:

  • Make sure that the park/neutral position switch assembly and the shift lever are in neutral.
  • Securely push in the lock piece until the slider lock is engaged.
  • After adjusting the shift lever position, check the position and operation of the shift lever. If there is a problem, adjust the shift lever position again.

2. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY (for TMMC Made)

NOTICE:

Before installing the transmission control cable assembly, check that the park/neutral position switch assembly and the shift lever are in neutral.

(a) Pass the transmission control cable assembly from the cabin to the engine compartment.

(b) Install the transmission control cable assembly with the 3 bolts.

Torque:

5.0 N·m {51 kgf·cm, 44 in·lbf}

(c) Return the floor carpet to its original position.

(d) Engage the 2 clamps.

(e) Install a new clip to the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.

(f) Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.

NOTICE:

  • Make sure that the claws (A) of the clip are securely engaged in the grooves of the bracket.
  • Make sure that the transmission control cable assembly is securely installed inside of the claws (B) of the clip.

(g) Turn the control shaft lever clockwise until it stops, then turn it counterclockwise 2 notches.

(h) Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the transmission control shaft lever with the nut.

Torque:

12 N·m {122 kgf·cm, 9 ft·lbf}

NOTICE:

Before connecting the transmission control cable assembly, check that the shift lever is in neutral.

(i) Slide the cover of the transmission control cable assembly and pull the lock piece outward as shown in the illustration.

(j) Engage the 2 claws to connect the transmission control cable assembly to the transmission floor shift assembly.

NOTICE:

Make sure that the transmission control cable assembly is securely connected.

(k) Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the transmission floor shift assembly.

NOTICE:

  • Check that the lock piece is pulled out.
  • Push the end of the transmission control cable assembly all the way to the base of the transmission floor shift assembly pin.
  • Connect the transmission control cable assembly so that the lock piece faces the driver side.

(l) Using your fingers, gently pull the cable rod towards the rear of the vehicle to remove backlash.

(m) Push the lock piece into the adjuster case.

NOTICE:

Make sure that the park/neutral position switch assembly and the shift lever are in neutral.

(n) Slide the cover of the transmission control cable assembly as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:

  • Slide the cover until it passes over the protrusion of the lock piece.
  • If the cover is not slid far enough so that the cover engages the lock piece, the cable will not be able to lock, and reliable shift operation will not be possible.

(o) After adjusting the shift lever position, check the position and operation of the shift lever. If there is a problem, adjust the shift lever position again.

9. INSTALL BATTERY

11. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL

12. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
